This weekend, the 89th Annual Academy Awards will be what everyone is talking about, and if you're going to be watching the Oscars anyway, you might as well throw an awesome party to go with it, right?

Well, of course!

The Prep

Let's be honest, at least half of the reason you watch the Oscars is for those red carpet moments and fashion. There's a reason the next day every entertainment show on TV is asking "What were they wearing?!"

So play with that in your own party. Dress up! Invite your guests to dress up or wear something sparkly or gold or otherwise Oscar-themed. 

When you're looking at decor, look for things that fancy and fit-for-the-stars or fun, unique show-stoppers. 

You can also go for a theme, like movie posters, old Hollywood, or pick your favorite movie nominee and run with it.

The Food!

Food is one of the biggest parts of any party, so think about what you want in advance. It doesn't have to be a lot of effort to make an impact!

A great meat and cheese platter and some glitter cupcakes can go an awful long way in making you look like a boss with almost no effort. If you're feeling extra inspired, though; take it a step further with a full spread and themed napkins and silverware. 

Of course, you can't forget the drinks, and picking a signature cocktail for the party is almost a guaranteed success.

The End of the Night

When it's time to go home, don't send your guests empty-handed--give them a swag bag! Put some chocolates and mini-liquor bottles in a small gift bag and send your friends home.

If it's been a really good party, maybe a couple of aspirin couldn't hurt? 

At the end of the night, the most important thing is that you and the people you enjoy spending time with have a good time--and that your favorite movies win, of course!
