On September 22, you can show your love for pachyderms on Elephant Appreciation Day! More than just animals you see at the zoo or circus, elephants are fascinating creatures that prove they’re special and worth a day of appreciation. Here are nine fun facts about elephants and why they make the world a better place.   African elephants are the largest land mammals on Earth. Compared to Asian elephants, they’re slightly larger. Want to tell the difference? African elephants have larger ears, while Asian ones have smaller, rounded ears. Elephant trunks are actually long noses. An elephant uses its trunk to breathe, smell, drink, and trumpet, as well as grab food. One elephant trunk has around 100,000 different muscles! What does Patriotism mean to you? This goes for any person, in any part of the world. I personally am from the U.S. and today marks another anniversary of what most people would call a tragic day in America. I was not in New York at the time of these events, however I felt something that I had never felt before that others around the world may have also felt. I remember being in middle school when this event shocked people all over the world. Pre-teens like myself were in class, gym, lunch…and then this was the news. Here are a few things that I..

In the end, finding forgiveness is a journey like grief that is personal and can vary in length for each person. Embracing forgiveness in all of its incarnations is important for growth and survival. 1. Watching other people forgive in the face of horrible tragedy is one way that I learn to try and forgive. In the recent weeks, I was staggered to watch the Charleston church members almost instantly forgive the seemingly unforgivable massacre of their church members. 2. A visit to the Holocaust Museum showed me how even people targeted in the Holocaust forgave and are still forgiving. My little moments of feeling unforgiveness in my heart were far eclipsed when I listened..

Gone are the baby shower days with toilet paper wrapping of the mother and a sampler game of mystery baby food. Today’s baby showers have a new level of sophistication. The Gender Reveal: The first thing making an appearance at many baby showers is the “reveal” cake or cupcake from a favorite bakery. Moms-to-be have their OB send in the gender of the child and every guest (and often the parents themselves) are surprised as to the sex of the child. Even Krispy Kreme has gotten into the action with a reveal donut filled with either pink or blue cream! The Food: While gender-reveal desserts are a fun trend, the food served at baby showers has also evolved well-past standard baby shower fare. Moms-to-be are having catered showers with all mini items like tiny chicken wings or themed Southern fare...
